SUN AND SAND UPON THE BRINK

SUN AND SAND UPON THE BRINK

A Poem by E.P. Robles
"

Beautifully layered, combining nostalgia, tenderness, and an almost mystical sense of presence.

"
We shared a Laugh"beneath the Sun,
A Silken Shade"our Shelter
And yet, you held a Glint of ‘Ago’"
A spectral Smile"a flickered Show"
Unfurling"just"below.
My Fingers grazed your Skin’s expanse"
Asleep, you startled"breath arose,
And slipped your Toes"within the Sand"
Explaining"how, from Time"to Time,
You surface from the Grand.
You asked a draft"a Taste of Glass"
The amber Ripples swirling"
I fetched it"yet"within the Drink,
A world"of shadows twirling.
And as you drank, an echo fell,
Of Summer’s distant Pitch,
“You’d drunk enough,” I heard me say"
In tender"Reproachful"Lilt.
