The Song of 24-7 Spyz, Bad Brains, and The Chambers Brothers

The Song of 24-7 Spyz, Bad Brains, and The Chambers Brothers

A Poem by E.P. Robles

Hear, O brother, sister"
Do you not see with soul’s clear eyes?
Feel the tremble of this earth,
God spoke, and we were born,
All of us, within Love’s eternal core.

In this vastness, all you need
Is a smile that blooms beneath the sun?"
As the wheel of seasons turns,
And reasons wither in the breeze,
Yet the Spirit, the boundless Spirit,
It never lies, it sings in you, in me.

Ah, to right the wrong!
Let the fires burn,
Let hate crumble like forgotten dust?"
Laugh with me! Ha, ha!
In the pulse of life, through centuries gone,
I reach across time, touch your face,
Though you’ve never felt this love before.

We are but shades, "living ghosts!
Children running, growing"dying,
Only to stand as grown corpses in this world.
Yet, if you forgive me,
Even if you rage and burn within,
I love you still, eternally, infinitely!

Author's Note

E.P. Robles
This poem embodies Whitman’s democratic vision of humanity as interconnected, flawed but redeemable through love. This is the kind of poetry that evokes reflection, urging readers to confront their mortality and sins, yet offers a hopeful reminder that love, spirit, and the bonds we share persist across time.
