Day of Wrath

Day of Wrath

A Poem by E.P. Robles

Grant them eternal slumber, O Lord,
And let everlasting radiance illuminate them.
Thou, O God, art praised in Zion's walls,
And homage shall be paid unto Thee in Jerusalem.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Day of fury, day of wrath,
Shall dissolve the earth to dust,
As David and the Sibyl bear witness.
The trumpet, spreading a wondrous sound
Throughout the tombs of this realm,
Shall summon all before the throne.
King of awe-inspiring grandeur,
Who freely saves the worthy souls,
Save me, the source of mercy.
Remember, compassionate Jesus,
That I am the cause of Your journey:
Do not abandon me on that fateful day.
When the accused stand bewildered
And destined for torment's fiery flames,
Call me forth among the blessed.
Tears shall overflow on that day,
When from the ashes shall arise
The guilty soul to be judged.
Lord Jesus Christ, King of heavenly glory,
Deliver the spirits of all faithful departed
From the pains of the underworld and the abyss.
Save them from the devouring mouth of damnation,
So that they may not be engulfed by darkness.
Lord, You who generously bestow salvation,
Grant them eternal repose.
Holy, Holy, Holy,
Lord God of heavenly hosts.
Heaven and earth resound with Your splendor.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Lamb of God, who absolves the sins of the world,
Grant them tranquility.
Eternal luminosity shine upon them, O Lord,
With Your saints throughout eternity,
For You are benevolent.
Grant them eternal repose, O Lord,
And may perpetual radiance illuminate them,
With Your saints throughout eternity,
For You are benevolent.
