Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum

A Poem by Eponine Roy
"

a warning

"

To drive adn talk

Is to chew gum and walk-

I never do both at once.

For to drive and talk

Is to swerve unto the walk-

Then run into the gum chewer

And die.

I like the message and the twist you use to deliver it. Nice touch.

Oh. My. Gawd.

Normally, poetry would not razz me to such a Valley Girl state, but, Gory! You...amaze me. Such a contrast, such a twisted sing-song. This is so simple, yet so complex... The contrast. Oh goodness, that contrast... Is that...? Is that euphoria, I feel?

To the ear, the natural bubbliness is all very cutesy and could very well serve as a jumping rope rhyme in some backwash school yard. Though the mind is beginning to understand the context, the head doesn't fully implode until your...very...last...line.

Every think of making your own greeting cards?
