In a world stacked against love

Maybe it's all just random gibberish

The weather changes just when you put on the gloves

Spend your time wondering, is there really light above

Like six billion, lost and curious fish.

 

In a world stacked against love

You're favored to be knocked down again

Everytime you get up you hang your head a little lower

When your voice once sang it now shakes and is slower

Like revisiting your dreams with just a pen.

 

But some things still take my breath away

A spontaneous sunrise and how the stars array

When I'm lost in your eyes, the hope lost finds it sail

In this world stacked against love, we just may prevail.

 

In a world stacked against love

Your child-like view begins to fade

Where all the drinks and pills is just a temporary illusion

Your chance to believe again ends in circular confusion

Like the grass after a meaningless parade

 

In a world stacked against love

The automatic pilot trumps the heart

When the golden rule rarely sets compassion in motion

When the tears of the oppressed could fill an entire ocean

Like a merry-go-round broken from the start

 

But some things still move me to the core

A couple growing old, starring out at the shore

For all my imperfections, the way you can sweetly see me through

In this world stacked against love, maybe someday we'll come true.
