Swingset Time Machine

Swingset Time Machine

A Poem by Ryan Luse

Swingset time machine

a ryan luse jam

Zoom in; it’s just my soul swaying in the wind on a nostalgic school yard
Every epiphany, every love of yesteryear propels my legs to propel hard
Let the monkey-bar Polaroid’s fade to digital slides as I contemplate the above
The higher I soar this playground the more I see the intricate peaks of love

Than I get that invisible push behind
And maybe the rush is all in my mind
Maybe its time to jump, just to be seen
Leaping from my swing set time machine

Fade out; it’s just our souls swaying in the fading sunlight kicking in a rhythm all our own

Now that you are near me, we can let our inner child glow like a tapestry God has sewn

Let’s manifest dream graffiti on the tower-blocks radiating our silhouettes against the trapeze

The higher we swing the more we realize we are actually falling like stars colliding in the breeze

Than we get that invisible push behind
And maybe the rush is all in our mind
Maybe its time to jump, just to be seen
Leaping from our swing set time machine

I really like this poem, it would make a good song. The rhyming scheme flows so nicely and I love the line about the graffiti. Very nostalgic, has that innocent radiance to it, but at the same time the words go deep.
