Thank God for Broken Hearts

Thank God for Broken Hearts

A Poem by Ryan Luse

                                  Thank God for Broken Hearts

When the symphony of love goes silent in the campfire of your soul

You drive down jaded highways to drop coins of sadness in the toll

The looming blue horizon, you can’t tell when it ends and where it starts

You get a tap on your shoulder that whispers “thank God for broken hearts.”

It hurts but hurt enables instruments of change

There are tears but tears put truth in your range

You will wonder but wonder creates new light

Placing possibilities for the next true love in sight.

When the dreams of love comes to the surface and only memories remain

You ponder an imaginary past where you held on tighter on a resurrection train

You yell out her voice that stops traveling and breaks into a million lost parts

Just than there is a shift and the wind whispers, “Thank God for broken hearts.”

It hurts but hurt brings about gentle care

There are tears but its tears of love that’s there

You will wonder but wonder makes things bright

Placing possibilities for the next true love in sight.

Thank God for broken hearts, thank God for broken hearts…
