The Autumn Veil is Safe and Sound

The Autumn Veil is Safe and Sound

A Poem by Gem Marie

And I will change before the trees
I've been falling way before these autumn leaves
This autumn breeze blows
Faded in hues my mind cant make sense of
Boxing glove, what are you
Blue branches, bark ruby red saphire
Trying to pinpoint the days I had prior
Raked and sorted with metal prongs
Out without a sweater it keeps running along
The sun covered by a layer cap of ice
These labors are messy but we choose to be precise
I want to stay above the electric glow, this snow
Got me on the highest plateau
Line of flight creates flashes of light
The trunk is dripping and all these things are slipping
Needles and pins this feeling im tripping
Over these roots that seem to be
Buckling driveways breaking up the ground
Weathered and affected from surfacing, this cracked crown
Exposed in the light of the sun and this arrangment is not an optimizing one
Needed nutrients lost with time seen through straws
These flaws accompany the cause
These genes are faded washed blue and I've got to
I've got to find some stable ground to dig into
Before I am marked a hazard or something else less preferred
These words slurred, I want wings something like a bird
Denying the height that never ceases to excite
Malay model kite that will let me touch the ground
Hanging onto these strings, please dont let me down
