Don't Ever Leave

Don't Ever Leave

A Poem by Gem Marie

I will dream about this kingdom and know its true
Because I have you
My friend, and how do I explain that I don’t want this to end
What are endings really anyway
These trees they sway in waves
Volume talks about how they keep these flowers abloom
It's you
That keeps me grounded, rooted to the earth
Some kind of rebirth while the rocks are burning
And the heat is yearning to sink inside
Our skin
The air
So thin
But I never felt so alive
Revived; with the abundance of tears surfacing this fear I've had
My dear
I wasn’t prepared to be repaired
Now
With arms as wide as the sun breathing easily instead of heaving
You deserve some kind of plaque
Unstrapped the weight off my back
For just a little while
Because these thoughts run long as the nile
River, and I cant stop this shiver
The open air, so bare, cooling my bones
These thoughts that jolt me in my dreams
Sunlight beams, erase the darkest night
And I can see again
my forever began today on that midsummer day
Cause I know it will all be okay, someway
The sky is opening up, the urge to cry
So divine, this sky is breaking down
Half crown, the moon mirrors the road
And I can’t go anywhere without wanting to explode
what is worlds apart?
My lungs are constricted, uncontrolled, they wheeze
my heart is stretched across seas
Not so sure it believes
Cause this space between is forcing my whole body to seize
I am determined to make a world and in the wake
Of the reality there is a sanity that is built around
A distance that isn’t too far
Because with every goodbye my heart goes to war
With a weak beat that my soul cannot march to pleading to retreat
