Traveling manA Poem by enufThis was originally written as a song sounds a bit like country
Travelling Man Sitting in a railway station, waiting for a train No money in my pocket, now isn’t that a shame Never really got my head round how to play the game Dog eat dog, business talk Always running round the block Sends my head into shock No reason to remain Became a travelling man I remember papa’s words running round my brain Mama’s in the background saying much the same Son you have to brace the world if you are to gain Right foot forward, walk the walk Learn how to talk the talk Hold your head up be a rock There’s no one else to blame Became a travelling man I recall my first love, Lucy was her name Met her at the high school prom, hoped she felt the same Asked her for the last dance, we swooned to purple rain Her big brown eyes Its no surprise Felt I was in paradise Man she made my temperature rise Didn’t even know my name Became a travelling man Now this is where I went wrong, life’s never been the same Many Lucy’s come and gone, my heart sure feels the pain This is when I really know, I couldn’t comprehend Never Learned to talk the talk Brace the world or be a rock Decided just to take a walk The reasons just the same Became a travelling man, cause I can No strings attached Its the way I am Never getting in to deep, making promises I can’t keep, not knowing where I’ll sleep I’m a travelling man, that’s what I am I’m a travelling man © 2009 enuf |
