Tolerance V2

Tolerance V2

A Poem by Entrelesnuages

Our tolerance for pain, and for hate.

until someone cracks it’s all great.

Maybe our sensitivity's gotten too big.

We’re all f**s or w****s or chauvinist pigs.

But I think we're talking a little too fast

no more filter. Our brain just lets things past.

no more consequences, cause and effect.

Just take more drugs lose all self respect.

I don’t even care about me let alone you

but they aren't just names they're stereotypes too.

See to a retard it isn't just a name

it becomes an identity, humiliation and shame

If that’s how the world see me that how I see me too

If you hear a lie enough it starts to seem true.

But at the end of the day we all have our names

they'll eat us up till they drive us insane

leaving no remorse just more piercing pain

You capture how things are here. I esp like 'no more filter.' That is exactly how it is. The trillions of words of total rubbish on FB etc is amazing. Yet, this place is different, a bit of a retreat from all that. Quality is all. But most people do not lead quality lives. In part because of the absence of filters of various kinds, intellectual, emotional, spiritual. Is that why the West is losing its way? has lost its way? Or maybe banality is evidence of freedom. Maybe the whole purpose of democracy is to ensure the mean (very) average (very) triumphs. Sneer sneer.
