Candle Wick

Candle Wick

A Poem by Megan Marie

Where is the broken line written?
With a heart mistooken
by what your kind words may have been
but seemingly turn out to be lies
because no truth is seen
no words are shared
just tears are shed.

Willing to go outside the realm
of what I thought could work
perhaps I was wrong...
perhaps I was right...
left in a state of confusion
I lost my will of might

Waiting is a stupid game
No game I'm going to play
I've got a lot of patience
to burn
but the patience for you
has burned out
the wick to your
candle has expired

good night....

This is a great piece. There is tension and frustration, yet the language demonstrates the narrator's self control.

This is extremely difficult. Countless writers have tried to make self control engaging, and I think you have posted a nice example that it can be done.

Thanks for posting
