LIFE CHANGES

DOG: I remember laying there, cold, wet, stranded and starved on the ground.
Waiting for the. To come back for me, waiting to be found.
Bruised and beaten, because they said it's what I deserved,
The car that then hit me, away it swerved.

NEW OWNER: I remember seeing you there, in so much pain,
By taking you in I had nothing to lose, but you had allot to gain.
I remember picking you up and holding you, with tears in my eyes,
The fact that no one cared that you were left there, was an ugly surprise.

DOG: I remember being scared of you,
Because no-one had ever treated me right,
I remember looking at you with hope, the warmth, when you hugged me tight.

NEW OWNER: I remember everyday with you, and all the fun we had together,
Running around chasing you,
In all kinds of weather.
You adjusted over time, and learned to trust again,
You truly were man's best friend.

DOG: I thought my life was going to end, that horrible night,
But meeting you was fait, it just felt so right.
From thinking my life was over, turned out it was about to begin,
And so it did, the day you opened the door and let me in.

So don't cry for me now, I hate seeing you so depressed,
I lived a happy life with you, it's now my time to rest.
I can't thank you enough, for everything that you gave,
Goodbye my master, I'll see you when you visit my grave.

OWNER: losing you, was one of the hardest things, iv done in my life,
I thank you for pushing me, into my soon to be wife.
Looking down on you with tears in my eyes, I see you take your final breath of air,
I look up at the sky, and I whisper...
I'll see you soon I swear.

Such a beautiful poem! A relationship between a dog and owner is one that's so unconditional that it's almost magical. The story sweetens the soul and leaves me to care about the dogs passing and the owner. The poem it's self is written so well. The rhyme scheme is spot on. Hands down one of my favorite poems I've read on this website. Great job Cimmy! I glad to see that you're still writing. :)
