LOVE IN A SENSE!

Sometimes when in love we take things for granted,
Those mean words under our breaths we have chanted.
Like oh I just wish he would stop his whinning and complaining,
Or oh I wish she would listen, im tired of explaining.

What if all of a sudden you went deaf and you couldn't hear,
your partners lips are moving, but the words are not quite clear.
You could no longer hear the sound of there sweet sweet voice,
They try to learn sign language for you now, thats the only choice.

Sometimes we hate our partners breath, because of the foods they eat,
So sometimes we look for ways out of kissing them, we retreat.
Sometimes we hate that certain perfume, that they simply addore,
but its the good smells to, that we take for granted and sometimes ignore.

What if you lost your sense of smell, you couldn't smell your lover again,
Not being able to smell the things that remind you of them, would drive you insane.
Even the smells you hated, you wish you could now inhale,
but your nose wont smell anything, it continues to fail.

Sometimes we look at our partners and we hate what they wear,
or what about that horrible way they tend to do up there hair.
Maybe your partner put on a little bit of extra weight,
Suddenly in your eyes they no longer look so great.

What if you went blind and suddenly your world went black,
you would no longer think about the things your partner lacked.
Suddenly you would kill to see there face or messy head of hair,
But you can no longer see a thing, your vision impaired.

So just think about these senses that you take for granted everyday,
not just when it comes to love, but with everything in everyway.
Next time think about the things you do and the things you say,
Because unfortunetly for some people there world is painted a dark grey.

Whoa, this is well written and it makes the reader think it through, just as, well. I never been in love, well not ideally lol, but I thought about it and it's not limited to that type of romantic love. It can be taken in more than one way, and that's what I like about this the most. Tyfs this poem!

You are right my friend.

The above lines is true for many. I learn later in life. "Shut-up if nothing good to say". When wife does something crazy. I smile and be quiet. Argument won't fix nothing. Thank you for sharing your good words and thoughts.

We value the things we have only when they are lost from us... And love is an expert of helping us ignoring our other senses... I love your second stanza the most, it was very cleverly presented... Oh my God! Its true!! we take things for granted! :( We never value a thing unless we lose it.. thats when we realise that those things were priceless.! truly an excellent piece of poetry! :) At the same time I don't think its only during love that we take things for granted. Homo sapiens or the so-called "Wise Man" always does that :) Rating..?? a perfect 100 :) :D

No people take allot of things for granted not just love.
Though this particular piece was more about taking love the all the senses for granted.
Though senses can be taken for granted in allot more ways then just love as well.
