WALKING AWAY!

A random story i made up about a girl in an abusive relationship....

It started about a year ago today, 

Not to long after we had been wed.

you started acting in a different way,

I could see it in the things you did and said.

It wasn't long until you were coming home late,

I would stay up worried, so i would wait.

You arrived home smelling like a b***h,

I knew there where many i wondered which....

I confronted you one night,

as you came in through the door.

I turned on the kitchen light,

As i asked who was tonight s w***e?

You looked at me with such rage,

We screamed and we fought.

It finally got to the stage,

You knew you had been caught.

Instead of admitting to it though, 

As i yelled and screamed in tears.

You raised up your fist and hit me hard,

Adding on to my original fears.

Ever since that day i'm always living in fear,

Loving you to much, to get the hell out of here.

You have rules for me to follow,

If i disobey you i get beat.

Then you act like nothings wrong,

your so caring and so sweet.

I have bruises on my leg,

and bruises on my arm.

I scream and i beg,

For you not to cause me harm.

A year ago today i wasn't strong enough to believe,

That i could do what i'm doing today

as i pack my suitcase ready to leave.

I'm walking away from you once and for all,

I'm standing up when you make me fall.

I'm walking out of the door and out of your life,

and soon you ll have to find yourself a new wife.

It is hard to get out of an abusive relationship because you convince yourself that they love you and only you can save them.But that is not true,there is no love that treats you like this and apologizes after and all is forgiven.You have penned this brilliantly you are very talented:)

A write of empowerment. The emotions are well expressed and powerful. Domestic abuse is a horrible problem. The rhyming flows easily and never feels forced in this poem....which is unusual for such a heavy topic. Well written. Lydi**

This is such a touchy subject to write about, one that I find many avoid, but this poem is an inspiration to all women (and men!) who are in an abusive relationship. I applaud you for writing this :)
