Whom to believe? ( The dilemma of one's life)

Whom to believe? ( The dilemma of one's life)

A Poem by Akhand Pratap Singh
"

Every now and then the conflicts of heart and mind are present, many of us have faced it..so whom do we choose?

"

I see with my eyes
Truths that hide
Behind a shade of pretty smile
Or a laugh covering the rainy sky

A false promise
Self compromise
Hiding behind a happy mask
A sorrowful sight

My mind takes lead
Asking to give no heed
For life is about ups and down
Smiling even in worst of feel

My heart cries
Seeing all deceiving minds
Why should you hide?
Creating this ugly smile

Mind takes scriptures
And as it reads
One shall be strong
Overcoming difficulties

Heart in a sad voice
Says let them cry
A fake smile,
Worse than a million lies

Mind acts as a king
Tells to stop whining
For to live a happy life
You might sometime need a fake smile

Heart turns against
Becomes brave
Let them fully cry
Then will their smile shine

In all my good bad days
I have not yet been saved
From this endless debate
Whom to believe?? now I state

Thank you :)
I wish I knew which to believe as well:
Always be true to yourself, never betray yourself.
Then there's always those grey areas where you have responsibility to other's feelings; you must try to make them smile, you must make yourself ready to bare hard times. Can you force yourself to happiness? Plastic and false as it may be?
The idea of putting on a face reminds me of a line in a Jame's Blunt song, 'We all need a pantommime to remind us what is real.'
I really enjoy reading this:)

Thank you :) yeah that part was my favorite too
An interesting poem, an original theme. I think sometimes people do need that fake smile, to deceive others, and for a micro-moment perhaps even deceive themselves. I love this: "a laugh covering the rainy sky". A thought-provoking read.
