Old Partner

Old Partner

A Poem by Drifter
"

Lying on the lawn with my dog on one side of me, nothing on the other, getting eaten alive, full of appreciation for a full moon to stare at.

"
My furry best friend,
So seemingly oblivious
To all the pain around you
Until now, when you wander around
From room to room, wondering to
Yourself, where has everyone
Gone to, and when will
They be back? Flop
Your belly down
Against the
Ground, spread
Out those paws for
You may be in for
An awfully long wait.

I'm sure going to miss
You when you're gone,
And I know how close
That day is coming,
But, please, please,
Don't leave me anytime
Soon, please, just not yet.
