POEMS Of Poems

POEMS Of Poems

A Poem by Ency Bearis

Sometimes literary translation

can entangle you to clever blunder

or may cause you to wonder

being you are knowledgable

to the literary arts as specified

In one encounter at a scenario

the word touched my esteem

and steamed to a sudden curiosity

with the result of knowing behind it

and the defeat bruised my ego

I took care of a patient in much pain

of whom she said the POEMS

were on the mood of attack again

causing her nerves, and body weakness ?

Being a Nurse and a Poet, it raised my eyebrows

The POEMS can attack nerves and the body?

It might stir a person mind emotionally

but can the nerves and anatomy be affected ?

So does a poem like I write can cause as such ?

It was strange a literary art can do that, I think

Because the fang of curiosity is biting

my brain and venom was so potent,

research I'd done what she meant

and I found the medical significance

Strange, interesting but with importance

Like a poem so ambiguous, it's because

POEMS is an acronym of these diseases

   Polyneuropathy

Organomegaly

  Endocrinopathy

                 Monoclonal gammopathy

Syndrome that entrapped the nerves

that causes pain and weakness

mostly those who has cancer and diabetes

and other neurological, endocrine diseases

Though she touched my ignorance

I confess it touched my heart too

Who would expect a POEM is like that ?

Who dare cares? But now I care

With my awareness I pity her

You have done well Ency . Now you possess the talent of not only observing and knowing the signs and symptoms . You also have acquired the extra sensory perception of a poet . Knowing it from the medical standpoint and expressing it from a poet and writer's point .
So many patients are afflicted by such . Fibromyalgia and Lupus are few that bears such hallmark symptoms. Thanks for sharing your insight and personal encounter .

I like the way you tackle your career as a nurse with your career as a poet and the blurring between your career and past -time is cleverly done, very well done, dear Ency!

Oh I love how you integrated your medical knowledge on this poem. This also looked like you've done much introspection and critical thinking. Somehow you've managed to pen down your emotions as well and that impressed me. Unique and interesting. Thank you for sharing! :)
