Friends

The way you smile when you talk

Makes me cry of joy inside

It is such a beautiful sight

Even though it is just a fleeting warmth

Would you please smile again at me?

I know we are not close

I feel that you have to put up with me

You think that I’m walking all over you

You don’t know that I can hear you

And believe me it hurts so much

You opened your arms for me

You listened to what I had to say

You and I are so different

I know we are not close

But you’re a friend I walked with.

I like this poem. Real friend need little. But will hold you up if needed. Of course we need to return the kindness. A very good poem. Told a positive and good story.

I really like this. It feels like quite a departure from your previous poems, which were pretty well defined with the rhyme schemes. I think it's really good that you've tried to work with a bit more of a free form approach. There's a very subtle repetition I notice within this, which I think could be played up a bit more. Regardless, this is a beautifully written poem full of great lines on friendship.
