Ice

 

How is it

that your eyes

shimmer and twinkle like

cut glass, caught

in a flickering flame.

How is it

that your lips

impart such tender

colourful jewels of

spoken love.

How is it

that your soul

shines and sings

with every essence

of your being.

How is it then

that your heart

is so cold

glittering icicles

drip from within,

then burn the very one

that loves you.
