Ode to River

a little dedication to my dog, my companion my friend.

 

His unconditional love knows no bounds,

i am protected and safe when he's around.

Late night cuddles on the settee,

morning kisses is how he greets me.

 

we run through meadows and fields, running free,

we go to the shore and swim in the sea.

He looks at me with his eyes, like

pockets of grey skies,

with the sunshine behind.

So elegant in your stance,

your limbs almost seem to dance,

your'e so cheeky, happy, proud

with you the sun hides every cloud.

 

At the end of the day, when your'e sleeping it seems,

i hope your'e chasing rabbits in your'e dreams.

 

I,m so lucky your'e my friend,

i will adore you till the end,

i,m such fun when your'e around,

my unconditional love knows no bounds.

Oh, I love this. What a special tribute. Have you read it to him yet? I think he would be able to feel every word of it; there is a depth of love in your words (like soundwaves) that could only be picked up by a dog. That might sound a bit off the wall, and I guess there's no way to prove it; but, as far as I know, there is also no way to disprove it. So... I choose to believe the former!
