S.A.E.

 

 

When you left me alone at the ferry gate,

there was so much to say,

but i,d left it to late.

My only hope, if a letter you send me,

you,ll remember to enclose an S.A.E.

 

You could be living in Dublin, Belgium or France,

why didn't i tell you when i had the chance.

My world fell to pieces, the day you left me,

please send me a letter with a S.A.E.

 

If all that it took was those three little words,

i send them now on the wings of a bird,

I,ll send them in a rocket, for the whole world to see,

if only you,ll send me a S.A.E.

 

If suicide would prove my truth,

i'd gladly lay down and die for you,

i'd walk a long and lonely path,

and this would be my epitaph.

 

Dig my grave and dig it deep,

place white lillies at my feet,

upon my head a turtle dove,

to show the world i died for love.

 

All this could be prevented,

if i,d only made you see,

i need you hear beside me,

not a distant memory.

 

I know i'll never find you,

your wandering and your free,

but spare a thought for my broken heart,

and send an S.A.E.

I really liked this poem, not jut the "story" behind it but i enjoyed the rhyming as well. It added that little extra "touch" to make it such a good read. Windy
