5 hours

5 hours

A Poem by emz
"

a quick poem to show how fast time goes in our lives, and how we should just try and slow down and appreciate our surroundings.

"

Its winter and all the snowdrops

have popped up to say hello,

the sky is all but white, and the wind

begins to blow.

Its been about 5 hours

since the sun said his goodbyes,

it seems like only minutes,

my god how time does fly.

I,m sure only yesterday,

i sat beside a daffodil

i told it all my secrets,

while it stood there very still.

I walked along the mountain tops,

feeling the autumn breeze,

then Bang, in just 5 hours

the season ups and leaves.

I love the changing seasons,

when winter turns to spring,

i only wish that they could last,

a bit longer than a fling.

it seems i,m fitting every day,

into a small 5 hours

one minute the sun is shining,

and then its april showers.

I,ve got alot of things to do,

alot of things to see,

but at this rate i,ll be lucky,

to get past Hendon quay.

I cant seem to manage a single thing,

before its time for bed,

if things keep going this fast,

i fear i,ll wake up dead.

If only i could see the world, the trees,

the stars and flowers,

the oceans and the mountains too,

inside of just 5 hours.

If only i could see the world, the trees,

the stars and flowers,

the oceans and the mountains too,

inside of just 5 hours.----i feel this way also. so much to see, so much to do/read--- so little time. I have several time poems, 'Time" --i'll post it now.

"Hendon quay." ---regional, known to you only? please email & explain, thanks.

good writing. as "a lost man" said you have a gift and although I enjoyed the entire poem I especially liked the last two paragraphs. (and agree totally with your "ditty" at the top about time going by so fast etc.) Windy

The ending is my favorite part. It really stands on it's own. Honestly think that's where all the power lies.

It's reminiscent of Robert Frost's, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening".

Watching nature be nature and wishing we had the time to do it more often.

amazing. I love the serenity and wonder that this poem brings along with the sweet sorrow of parting with what we love. you, my friend, have a gift.
