Seasons changeA Poem by Emily QuinnWith the clustered colours on a splattered canvas Bright petals unfold an inner beauty Dancing under the gentle rainfall That awakens the life from the nurturing soil. Grass adorns a healthy hue Of fresh greenery moist with dew Birds fly home from their winter retreat With new songs of cheerful mornings. The sun soon warms the Earths shivering skin And casts all under its delightful charm. Bronzed bodies soon come out from hiding To sip cold beer and barbeque . Salty beaches welcome bare little toes To wriggle in beneath it’s cool surface Muddy castles garnished with shells Line the shore until waves wash them away. Soon autumn leaves change their shades To new breathtaking tones They curl and glide down from the trees Like elegant dancers in the gentle breeze. Temperatures cool the blistered grass And wind whispers natures lullaby Drowsy petals fall softly to rest As do critters heavy eyes. Frost lines our windows and doors A soft blanket of snow cushions the ground Snowmen and angels sparkle with life While bundled children scurry around. Fire’s roar behind closed doors Warming frozen fingers and toes Kettles whistle on heated stoves Sipping hot cocoa and tea. The seasons change without fail There’s not a thing we can do Some like heat while others the cold But we learn to make it through. Birth, growth, aging and death We go through life’s familiar stages Without a choice of our own Some dread growing up, some fear death some don’t want to age or go through changes But remember not the unpleasant parts For each stage has beauty of its own It would be a tragically lament shame to miss a single moment of life’s wondrous game. © 2010 Emily QuinnReviews
