perfect imperfectionA Poem by Emily Quinnspecifically written for the contest "what happens next." although this poem could have various meanings/interpretations to whomever choses to read it.The indomitable quest to find perfection Is a useless search of false introspection. He craves a companion much like his own, Reassurance he will never again be alone. A mirrored man he then hastily fashioned, When the shell became life, his dream impassioned. Metal became soul, iron a longed after friend, With the mind of a boy, he now had something to defend. To him a son, his creation became, In the manufactured affection he felt no shame. When his back was turned the child did tease, Mimicking his father’s actions with ease. Always working hard to acuminate, While the robot child did emulate. With glowing red eyes, many had feared him, But he was an innocent being made on a whim. When the day came they hunted him down, Set fire to the metal boy, burning him to the ground. The father cried out, cradling the chard scraps, Feeling- with the demise of his boy- his heart collapse. So in his determined quest to create perfection, The scientist had found that truest love comes only with imperfection. © 2010 Emily QuinnFeatured Review
