Now, Before YouA Poem by Mily
Before you, I use to always walk on the left side of the street.
Now, because of you, I walk on the right. There are flowers here on this side, and they are just as beautiful as you made me feel. Before you, I never looked for dandelions. Now, because of you, my only eyes are for dandelions. I let each wish dance away as the wind carries it to where it belongs. Before you, I never needed to look at the moon to know I was not alone. Now, because of you, I feel so alone that the moon is the only ray of light I feel when it's dark. Before you, love songs weren't dedicated to anyone, soley the heartbroken and in love. Now, because of you, all the love songs have a meaning. They all mean you. Before you, I only had a bad habit of shaking my knee when I got bored. Now, because of you, my hands tremble and I shiver all day long because of the storm you left when you said goodbye. Before you, I use to sit alone feeling happy with the lonely world I was living in. Now, because of you, my world is all but happy and emptier than before. Before you, I wasn't able to see the world in different colors. Now, because of you, the world is an artist's pallet, and it's too bright for me, I miss the grays. Before you, I didn't need anyone to lean on simply because I didn't have anyone to lean on. Now, because of you, I'm falling on my knees because you left so quickly, and I didn't know how to save myself from falling down. Before you, my love, the mall was just the mall, the slanted tree by the school was just a tree, the stars were just something I liked to look at, the world was just a place where I didn't belong. Now, because of you, my love, my world is shattered, and nothing is what it use to be. You left footprints everywhere you went and no sand storm or blizzard can cover what you left behind. And God do I want it gone. © 2018 MilyReviews
