![]() [Chapter Two]A Chapter by Emunah June.![]() This chapter was written by: Angie![]() Amaya was walking around town slowly when the wind picked up. She was holding her favorite picture and letter in her hand. It was the one from her parents. She had to look at it because it was their anniversary day. Amaya maybe shouldn’t have looked at it outside, but she was just in this town visiting. Amaya was thinking of moving there.
The wind then started to blow really hard. Amaya accidently let go of her picture and paper. Tears started to flow down her eyes! She needed those things they were really important to her. When the wind died down she could see that the pictures had blown towards the park. She was hoping that no one picked them up. It was her private business what that letter held. Amaya had received that letter before her parents passed away.
Her parents had sent her a letter because they weren’t going to be home for a while. They just wanted to check on her. They wanted to tell her that she loved her. Tell her that they were always going to be there for her. Amaya realized that it was a bunch of lies. Her parents passed away a couple of years ago. She was alone with no one to look after her. She hated the feeling of being alone. She was only fifteen at the time. Now that she is eighteen…she has a lot to look forward too, but she at least wanted a memento from her past.
She ran to the park as fast as she could. She didn’t want the photo or letter to get stepped on. She ran until her legs could carry her. Boy, did she wish she was taller because she would run a little faster.
On the other hand, Koda; she was getting ready to go to the park. She had an umbrella in her hand. She was shading her face from the sun. That was probably a good thing because she didn’t want to get sunburn. Koda was having a good day today. She was going to go sightseeing. It wasn’t her first time there, but it had been a while. Koda had to go back home for a while. She had some things to take care of back at home. She had always loved the area.
Koda was slowing walking to the park when the wind had picked up. Her umbrella was turning inside out. She could feel that the umbrella was starting to slip through her fingers. It was so hard to control because the wind had come out of nowhere. She hadn’t seen that much wind in a while. She thought that it was weird.
“Hmm I wonder where that wind came from.” Koda thought to herself. She knew that her umbrella was heading for the park. Koda ran after it. She decided that it was going to be good exercise for her. Her legs needed some running. She smiled as she saw her umbrella.
She was walking along the path and she picked up her umbrella. She fixed it before she put it back over her. Koda was going to be more careful when she was holding the umbrella.
She felt someone knock into her as she was walking on the path. She had fallen to the ground. Amaya was breathing heavily. Tears were streaming down her face. She was thinking about how careless she had been. She noticed that she had bumped into someone. She wiped her eyes because she didn’t want to seem like a weakling.
“Oh, I’m so sorry for bumping into you.” She said wiping her eyes clean. She looked down to see Koda on the ground. She offered her hand out to Koda. She accepted and she stood off and wiped herself off.
“It’s alright. Don’t worry about it.” Koda said in a polite tone. Amaya went back on her search for her documents. She didn’t want to lose them. Koda was watching her in wonderment. Koda was wondering what she was looking for.
“Hey, are you okay? What are you looking for?” Koda asked. “Oh um, I’m looking for two important things.” Amaya said. “Can I help you look?” Koda asked. Amaya’s eyes brightened and she nodded. She then could see that the letter was in a tree. She was scared that the sharpness of the branches were going to tear her letter. She didn’t want the last letter that he parents had ever sent her to be ruined.
She quickly climbed up the tree. Koda looked on the ground and saw a picture. The people in it looked like Amaya. She called to the girl that she had just met. Amaya grabbed the letter before it was torn. She sighed with relief that her letter wasn’t ripped. She had treasured that letter.
“Is this yours?” Koda asked reaching her arm out.
“Yes, it is. Thank you.” Amaya said with a smile. She took the picture of her parents and put it I her pocket. She didn’t want to lose it again. Koda looked down at the ground because she was nervous. She didn’t know what else to say to the complete stranger she had just helped.
“Well what is your name?” She finally decided to come up with something to say. “My name is Amaya. Thanks again for helping me. I’m really sorry that I bumped into you. And your name is?” “Koda, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You seem new in town would you like to go out to eat or something?”
“Sure, I am new here. It would be nice to have someone to help me out.” Amaya said with a smile on her face. She placed the letter back in her pocket. She was glad that her mementos were safe and sound. She really was happy that Koda had come when she did or she would have been devastated forever. © 2012 Emunah June. |
