Chapter 45: Curtain Call

Chapter 45: Curtain Call

A Chapter by Emunah June.

I open my eyes, even though it hurts.

I feel someone holding my hand. I know immedietly its Ayumi. When my eyes are open completely, I see her pressing my hand against her cheek, crying.

"Ayumi?"

At the sound of my voice she bolts up. "A-Alphonse!" she squeaks, gripping onto my hand tighter. I smile weakly, and I see more tears push themselves out of her eyes. "Alphonse!!! You're alive!! It's a miracle!!" she shouts, hugging me as I lay there in my bed. It hurts at first, but soon I get my arms around her and hug her back. "Ayumi..." I whisper, and she pulls her self up enough to were her face is in front of mine. I blush, my heart racing.

"I love you," I whisper.

Her eyes go wide, but then soften with understanding. "I love you too, Alphonse. I'm just...I'm so glad you're okay," she says, laying her head on my chest. We sit there in a blissful silence, her touch warming and welcoming.

I press my head against my pillow and look to the left. I didn't know it, but Koda and Brother were standing there, watching us. I blush. "Hey you guys," I whisper. They smile at me before Brother comes over. "Alphonse...that was a jerky thing you did to my wife but...after nearly losing you today..." he begins, starting to cry too, "I...I cant let this fight go on anymore. Lets put this past us okay?" he said, looking rather worried. I nodded. "Yeah...lets." I look over to Koda. "I'm sorry," I say in a strained voice. She nods, walking over and placing a hand on my forearm. "You're okay now, and thats all that matters. I forgive you."

I look back to Ayumi, who's silently crying on my chest. "Ayumi, help me sit up," I say. She looks at me and nods as she takes my hand and helps me sit up. I cringe in pain, but am able to sit myself up.

I only now notice Im sweating. The sweat as stained through my clothes (which had been replaced by hospital staff I see). Koda comes over to Brother and whispers something in his ear. He nods, and together the two leave the room and shut the door.

I sigh. "Guess the Shukketsus must not like me eh?" I say, and through her tears Ayumi laughs. "I do," she says, and I smile. "I know you do."

I think back to my encounter with God. He had shown me just how hard I had fallen for Ayumi, and all this time I thought it to be my feelings for Koda. I now understood everything that had happened, and I was grateful. "Hey, Ayumi," I say, "I um...I'm glad you love me," I say. She nods, bringing her chair closer to me and leaning forward. "Why wouldnt I?"

"Well, I havent made some very good choices recently..."

"Alphonse, I can accept your flaws. Just promise me you'll never do it again, okay?"

"I promise you."

She smiles as a solidary tear spills down her face. I press my thumb against her cheek and wipe it away. "No more tears, okay? Lets just start over. My name is Alphonse Elric. Whats yours?" I say. blushing. Ayumi grins and placed her hand over the hand of mine thats on her face. "I'm Ayumi Shukketsu. Its nice to meet you," she says. I smile, and she smiles too. Quietly, I lean forward and kiss her. Soft, gentle, and passionate.

My heart rests with ease. This was the feeling I had been looking for. I knew it was here somewhere, and all this time I had been looking in the wrong places. But now it was mine, and I couldnt be happier.

I let go and examine her face. She smiles. "I told you you were allowed to do that again," she says, and I laugh. "Good. Then you wont mind if I do it again?" I ask. She shakes her head, and I kiss her one more time.

When I let go a second time, she stands up and pushes the curtains back. The sun leaks in and spills over her shoulders. "Its a nice day. Lets get some sunlight in here!" Ayumi says, and I smile.

"Why're you smiling?" she asks.

I shake my head and continue to smile.

She doesnt see it, but the sunlight is the brightest on her. God was making sure I understood what this gift was for me. Thats when I realized that we would be together forever. This was a heaven made match.

We had God's approval.

Yay!! What a great ending! I'm so happy God gave him another chance to live. ^^ And I'm happy that everyone forgave him and all is now good. Now, what is going to happen to Kaen? I'm curious about it. Prison seems nice, but I doubt that will happen, even though he almost killed Al. I bet he will eventually like Al and he forgives him and stuff like that. XP I hope he goes to jail or something. That's what I'm rooting for. ^^

BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO KAEN?!?!?!!? B'AAAAAAWW! AN UNANSWERED QUESTION!

But, all in all, this was a good story. :3 As you said before the book even started, "It's about time Al got some lovins'!"

There's something that's been bugging me throughout the story, though. I think at first you made Ayumi hit Al with a motorcycle, and then you magically changed it into a car? I don't quite remember now, but I'm too lazy to check back so blaaaaahh.

Can't wait for you to begin a new story soon! And this is a wakeup call that I need to get crackin' on books of my own! XD
