Reality is Waiting [Have We Forgotten About God?]

Reality is Waiting [Have We Forgotten About God?]

A Poem by Emunah June.

Does this generation even remember their names?

We sleep in numbers, yknow.

Dreaming of our next network encounter.

Our next status, our next "Like".

Do we wake to a reality that never even existed in the first place?

Carol Lewis understood this.

He understood the dawn before the decade.

The wave that was coming,

The hell we'd plunge into--willingly at that.

The screen is our master.

A digital bible of sorts, perhaps?

We live it, breathe it,

Check page changes and refreshments religiously

-Have we forgotten about God?`

Our fingers do all the work now.

A pencil? Whats that?

A letter? Whats that?

A book? Who reads those anymore?

Even the crisp smell of paper is fading,

Replaced by the dull sound of whirring mechanics:

Nooks.

iPods.

Facebook.

Youtube.

Myspace.

Twitter.

Demons.

False prophets.

Death bringers.

Administrators of a new way to kill.

A new way to wreck the world we once knew.

It's corruption

Madness

Hysteria

And yet we crave it all.

Billy Lucas.

15.

Hung in the barn underneath the supportive shadows.

His mother found him.

Dead.

Who killed him?

Bullies.

Who's ideas were found

On the internet.

Phoebe Prince.

15.

Hung in her bedroom next to an open window.

After being bullied

Over the internet.

Who benefits from the madness we call technology?

Where's the method in living in fantasy?

None of this is real; none of this we can touch.

When will it end?

When will the era of Machines end?

-Have you forgotten reality is waiting ?-

Got two things to say, and yes, I know I'm late but oh well.
1.) Nooks save trees. End of story.
2.) NO technology, means no songs. Most instruments now a days need technology. Also, without the internet, music distributions around the world would be nearly impossible. I know you, I know you like Japanese songs. And I saw the point you were trying to make in this poem, but let's face it. Technology and Machinery is here to stay.

Wow, just wow.
Incredibly wording and your choice of words also so superb.
I can so agree with you on this, most people just cram their face into something and forget about spiritual health or just their health in general.
It's sad to think that books may one day not exist, I'll collect all the ones I can since I perfer reading books than reading one online.
Though with technology, there are some benefits, like news getting around faster, information is easier to gather and just as many other things it can be harmful as well.
Anyway, wonderful read, as usual~

Change can sometimes be tumultous. Narrow your choices - not all the networks, not all genre of songs, not all of everything. Take one ( even if it means you are a nerd for a while ) get familiar and then look at others. The one will anchor you. Poetry that conveys an explosion......you have a choice!

This is one of the most emotional pieces on this site that I have ever seen and I loved every word! I find that the world really is going digital and that things such as books will be obsolete.

P.S. The picture is sweet!

This was really preachy and I think we all have to accept this is the digital age. And technology helps us communicate. Technology is becoming reality. And not everyone believes in God. With all the information available on the internet, Atheism is rising. "Reality" can't brainwash people quite as effectively when information is at our fingertips. I think technology is a good thing.

I really like this, I know at times I can be a technology FEIND! Hell, im reveiwing this from my phone, but I think people have seriously been brain washed by all this technology, which is making us dumbet and dumber, but people seriously needa learn how to put down the phone, or close the laptop or computer , and look at reality rather than a mega pixel world.... Thats why I dont watch tv anymore
