To The Blackboard

To The Blackboard

A Poem by Emunah June.

The board speaks to me

In a language

So foreign

That when I open my mouth

To speak

I dont recognize my voice

The language on the board

Is so unfamiliar

So unsettling

That when I move my pen

To understand

My brain stops working and I go numb

The writing untesil used on the board

Is so frightening

So unnerving

That when I sleep at night

I awake to a disturbance

And it's the board's words staring down on me

That board in the centre

Of the room

How much I hate it

How I wish it would vanish

How I wish it'd burn

And make a satisfying pile of ashes

To the blackboard

I go

And I'll write in a language

So foreign

That when I walk away

I wont recognize myself anymore

This was a great poem. I know what you mean. I feel stupid when I don't understand something too. I loved the way you worded this. I can feel confusion within your ton. Good job., Thanks for sharing.

I love this. I feel the same way when my math teacher tried to teach some that neither us nor her understand. (She didn't know half the math she taught us) This is expressed beautifully in poetry. But thank goodness she didn't use chalk. EEEK!! I hate that sound!
