Chapter 17: This Is The Story Of...A Chapter by Emunah June.I don't know how long I was out, but when I came to, Ayumi was sleeping in the chair beside me.
I blinked a few times, then looked around to see if anyone else was with her. Kaen? Koda? Brother? A nurse even?
Nope, just her.
Outside, birds were singing the song of newborn dawn. I looked over at Ayumi again and smiled. She was poised like a princess sleeping soundly against the chair. I didn't want to wake her. It'd be rude.
No need.
Gently, those beautiful eyes fluttered open at looked at me. "Nuhurrr....oh....um...Alphonse! You're awake!" she said, suddenly bursting with life. I grinned. "You too. When did you come here? Have I kept you waiting long?"
"No. I came a few minutes ago."
This is a lie. I can tell. But I let it go.
"Oh...well...in that case, good morning! Did you sleep well?"
Ayumi dives into a story of a dream she was having, but to be honest I wasn't listening.
I was looking at her eyes.
Her eyes danced with every word she spoke. They lit up when she talked about something happy, and they flickered sadly when she was talking about something depressing. Then when she was confused they'd close slightly, but not enough to make her look like a stereotypical Asian.
It was very entertaining.
"...and that's about it before I woke up."
I was pulled back into reality by the sound of Ayumi ending her conversation. I gasped slightly, then started to stare at her mouth. "Ah. What a vivid dream," I say, even though I missed most of it. She grins, and I feel myself blush. "What did you dream about, Al?"
I freeze.
Should I tell her about these dreams plaguing my head? Or should I lie? I am torn on what to do. I swallow the best I can, then smile.
"Oh, nothing really. Just drempt that I was dancing."
