Chapter 4: Awakening

Chapter 4: Awakening

A Chapter by Emunah June.

I woke up after what felt like an eternity.

I heard a soft, gentle noise of machinery beeping, keeping me alive. I hadn't even opened my eyes, but already I could feel the silk white bandages constricting my lower waist. I groaned, the pain dull but still very much there.

"Alphonse! You're awake!"

I cast my tired gaze over to my side and saw Brother rushing over to me, his eyes brimming with tears of relief. "Oh Alphonse! I thought you were dead!" he shouted, grabbing my hand. I coughed and tried to speak, but it was too hard. The pain was just too much. Brother's golden eyes flooded with tears, but I could tell he was trying to suck them in.

Leave it to me to have this happen, right?

"Is he okay?" I heard a female voice ask.

Brother looked behind him, and soon a girl whom I'd never met before walked towards him and touched his shoulder.

Was Brother's wedding a dream?

Did he not get married?

WHO WAS THIS WOMAN?!

The freak out on my face must have been evident, because Brother laughed gently. "I know you don't want to see her Al, but she came to apologize."

Apologize?

For what?

I didnt even know her!

"Alphonse? Thats your name isn't it?"

She spoke to me, and as she did I took in all of her features.

She had beautiful black hair that reached just barely past her shoulders. The hair curved at the end, but it was hardly noticable. She had bright coloured eyes that danced when she talked. Her voice was like a symphony of music cascading on a  staff. Her body was perfectly proportioned. No matter how many times I looked her up and down, I couldn't find a single thing wrong with her.

She was gorgerous.

"Listen, I'm really sorry. I was texting my brother Kaen...I should have looked where I was going. I'm so sorry," she apologized, and I tried my best to speak, but it was too hard. Eventually I gave up, giving her only a slight nod. Brother took in a sigh of relief. "Al, this is Ayumi. Ayumi Shukketsu."

I didn't think it was important.

But now I know differently.

And this is why texting while driving is ILLEGAL. Lol. Sad that there is no next chapter. :( Nonetheless, I like it so far!
