Chapter 3: Ayumi

Chapter 3: Ayumi

A Chapter by Emunah June.

The pain was immense.

I felt myself flying in the air the second the car hit me. Only I didn't think it was a car. No. It was too fast to be a car. A motorcycle maybe. But I knew for sure it wasn't a car.

I fell on my face and landed on the concrete below me. I heard car doors slamming and worried but hushed whispers being exchanged amoung bystanders. I feel some sort of liquid rushing through my nose and my limbs felt broken.

I couldn't move.

One voice in particular stood out over all the rest. "Oh my God! I didn't see you! Are you okay?"

It was a female voice.

Followed by gentle touch.

I couldn't even open my eyes, but I could feel long delicate fingers running over my cheekbones. The touch was worried, fastpaced, and obviously shaken. "Sir?! Sir, can you hear me?!"

Yes. I can hear you.

But I can't answer.

I hear the fast flick of a cell phone cover and now I can tell she's calling an ambulance. "Hang tight, mister! Please hold on!" she calls to me, and soon I can hear her worried voice speaking into the phone.

My body hurts.

She's frantic now. "I...oh God, he's not moving! What if he's dead?!...no we're at the corner of Pale and Harkam street...no I dont know! How long are you going to TAKE?!" she yells into the phone.

But I'm too tired to listen anymore.

So I fall asleep.
