Off Comes The Burden

Off Comes The Burden

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

Free at last..!! Free at last!! Thank God Almighty, I'm FREE AT LAST!

"

Chains of Atlas on my wrists

Dragging the memories along with them

Each tear I shed rip off more skin

And here I stand

At the edge of the Earth

That same burden I was forced to carry

Walking along glass-trodden sand

Living in fear of the crabs underneath

Of their master

Of you

Of everything you've done to me and the other crabs

Such a burden we're all forced to carry

My lips sewn shut

With the seamstress needle

From every female

In your life

In your sick, sick mind

Burden strewn blanket they're all forced to carry

Children hiding

But dont know they're hiding

My shoulders carrying whispers

Of their endless nights full of wonder and worry

Their tears are my pain

Burdens they were all forced to carry

The farther I walk

The heavier the load gets

The beach is nothing more than a thin white strip of sand

The screams are echoing in my ears

They are all screaming for you

The roses burden, covered in thorns

Now I stand at the base

Cord in hand and tears in my eyes

Its all over

You've been caught now

I can finally rest easy

No more burden.

Only

Freedom.

I picture a Father to many children and ex-husband to many women. He has used his past to manipulate the many women he has lied to. But now they all carry his burden because of his carelessness and lies. And this one woman is seeing her children cry and have to hide without a reason. And the sight of their tears causes her burden to grow.

Extremely beautiful and thought provoking.
