Ten Paper Cranes

Ten Paper Cranes

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

Ten things you should say to a loved one...before it's too late

"

A green paper crane says "I love you"

So I'm folding one today

And hoping even though I'm weird

You'll love me anyway

________________________________________

A red paper crane says "Thank you for everything"

So I'm folding one for you

And hoping that even though I'm lazy

I'll see your love shine through

________________________________________

A purple paper crane says "You're different"

So I'm folding one right now

And hoping that even though I'm crazy

You'll love me somehow

________________________________________

A blue paper crane says "Stay happy"

So I'm folding up my paper

In hopes that you will still somehow smile

In the midst of the worst caper

________________________________________

A yellow paper crane says "Stay gold"

So I'm folding one with joy

Stay golden, stay bright, stay ever so light

Just like my dear friend Ponyboy

________________________________________

A pink paper crane says "Stay hearty"

So I'm creating one with ease

In hopes that maybe one day

You'll come to laugh with me.

________________________________________

A white paper crane says "Stay pure"

So I'm making you one as we speak

In hopes that you'll walk along with God

And forever stay happily clean

________________________________________

An orange paper crane says "Stay creative"

So I'm laughing up my time

I'm not afraid to think of you

As my life hangs on the line

________________________________________

A brown paper crane says "I miss you"

So I'm making one for free

And wish that when I break and cry

You'll come to hold me

________________________________________

A rainbow crane means "All of the above"

It's the best out of the flock

It's a symbol of peace, a symbol of love

A symbol to never give up

________________________________________

I made these cranes for you

Do you like them? Please, dont lie!

You do? That's good! Thats really good!

So now I can finally die...

This is our prayer

Peace in the world."

Author's Note

Emunah June.
1) I dont know if colours really stand for anything.

2) I cant fold paper cranes to save my life.

3) Sadako Sasaki was a Japanese girl who was a baby during the bombing of Hiroshima. At the tender age of 11, Sadako was diagnosed with the "Atom Bomb Disease", aka lieukemia. While hospitalized, her best friend Chizuko told her that if she folded 1000 paper cranes, God would grant her wish and make her well again. Sadly, Sadako only folded about 644 before she passed away. Her classmates folded the others and buried her with them. Later on, a statue of Sadako was put in Hiroshima Peace Park. On the bottom it says "This is our cry, this is our prayer. Peace in the world."
