Chapter Nineteen: "Kiss Me, Ed"

Water. Water. So much water. Chin covered in water. Breathe? No. No breathe. Blood. Can't see. Thunder overhead. Dark clouds. See where I am. See. See. See. Sea.

 

In the sea.

Scary sea.

 

Bodies everywhere. Screaming I am. No hear. No one. No one hears. Swimming hard. Rubber tough. Drowning.

Underwater.

 

Bloody water. Eyes wide. Turn around. GASP! Hand on ankle. Turn to look.

 

Alphonse.

 

He's crying. Crying sand. Seen this before? No. Cant have. "Nii-san*" he calls. I shake my head. Hand slaps his. Lets go. Floats away. To surface. No. Stopped. Hand on ankle again. Turn.

 

Winry.

 

She's screaming. Screaming sand. Wait. Seen before? Dejavu. "EDWARD!! SAVE ME!!" screaming she is. "NO!!!". Slap her hand. Swim to surface. Surface sunny. No clouds. Calm water. Water cold. Swim to shore. Shore sandy. Sand everywhere. Lay down. Breathe? Yes. Breathing now. Wet. Cold. Sand sticky. Sand melting. Sit up. What? Look. Sand caving. Bloody sand. Sinking. I'm sinking. Can't move. Flail arms. Scream.

 

Hand grabs mine.

 

Look up. Koda pulling. She's smiling. I alive. Look up at her. Lips full. Hips curved. Eyes bright. "Never could stay away from trouble, eh Ed?" she mocks. I smile. Laughing? A little. Little laughter. Stand up. Face pink. Hers red. Grab her hand. Smiles. "Kiss me Ed," she whispers. Nod? Yes. I nod. Lean. Gasp.

 

Koda no there.

Just sand.

In my hands.
