Him and Her

Him and Her

A Poem by Emunah June.

His smile melts her to the core

Her heartbeat drops when he knocks on her door

His life lights up when they start to dance

Her whole face flushes as she goes for the chance

A cold as ice kiss warms him and her inside

And she decides she always wants him in her life

He says he'll never leave, that he'll always hold her heart

She thinks thats too far, but hey, its a start!

Now college is done, and she's a graduate

Decides they can go drink, just for the heck of it

He comes with her and the drinks hit the spot

They go back to his apartment and make the night hot

She's pregnant now and he's backing out

Now instead of kissing, him and her shout

He calls the night a mistake, that it was all a lie

She starts to shout, but then she starts to cry

He's feeling bad now, and he knows he loves her

But she's being too pushy, and she's shattered his world

Not wanting to be a dad, he breaks it off and leaves

Leaving poor pregnant her crying on her knees

Poor lonely her can't do this on her own

Determined to be normal, she picks up the phone

The call to the doctor, she's got a crazy notion

In a low saddened voice, she says "I want an abortion."

The surgery comes, and she's forgotten how to love

Even at the baby's death, he still hasnt come

The baby is dead and she's so sick of crying

So upset that his love for her is dying

News travels fast, and soon he finds out about baby

Screaming at her "Why do it without asking?!"

She shakes her head, says that he broke it off

He screams, punches, bleeds, and someone calls the cops

He's arrested and hears that she is dead

The cause was a beer bottle upside her head

The trial is set, his life in a curve

This is the story of him and her.

This is terribly emotional. Oh the terrible, hypocritical nature of man.
