[Blake POV]: Welcome to Hagane Academy

[Blake POV]: Welcome to Hagane Academy

A Chapter by Emunah June.

"Well, here I am."

I stared down the paper cupped in my palm. It had said Room 207, right? Well, here I am, at the doorstep of room 207. I sighed, a bit of my blonde hair falling into my eyes. "Well, I'm here. Now what?" I asked outloud. Who was I asking, you ask? The world. I was asking the world where I was supposed to go.

"You open the door."

I jumped at the sound of the new voice. I turned around, and what greeted my eyes almost made me stare in wonder.

It was a girl around my age. She had very long black hair that she had tied up into Miku-like pigtails. Her eyes were a swirling coal black, and her lips were a dim red. It looked almost as if she had started putting lipstick on, but then quit a few seconds later. Her outfit was a bright orange tanktop with a puff of fabric at the top. A light purple skirt swayed around her knees that were being smothered by knee-high socks. To complete her look she donned black flats that had a little bow on the edge.

We stared at each other for a moment, eyes locked. I could tell she was looking me up and down as well. Most likely taking me in for the first time. People do that...at least, I think. I don't know. I'm new to this whole "social" thing. Stupid homeschooling.

"Well, are you gonna open the door?" she asked me cockilly, and that's when something in my head clicked. "Oh! I have the key to this door don't I? Oops!" I said outloud, fishing into my pocket for the key.

The door swung open, and a small dorm room greeted us. Two small beds that looked hardly suitable for sleeping in occupied the center, while a small table sat in the corner. There was one window, and the shades had been pulled back to let the room flood with what little sunshine we were having today. When I walked inside, the wooden floors creaked loudly, and I stared in surprise. The world outside my home was strange.

The girl gasped. "This is sooooo small!!" she shouted in protest. I spun around and locked eyes with her. "Why do you care? It's MY dorm," I said, and she smiled. "I'm your roomate," she announces, and this surprises me. My Mom always said that girls weren't allowed to dorm with boys in college. Hmm...

"Is that even allowed?" I ask. "For a girl to dorm with a boy?"

The girl's eyes flare with anger. "YOU SEXIST PIG, WHAT'S WRONG WITH GIRLS?!" she shouts. I step back a step. "I-I'm sorry, was that wrong??" I ask.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?"

"Um...nothing. So, what's your name?"

The girl smiles a smile that makes me believe I'm going to regret her answer. Excitedly, she jabs her thumb into her chest. "My name is Anela...Anela Mustang!" she shouts so loud I'm sure the other dorms can hear her. Anela begins to ramble on about her family legacy, but my mind travels elsewhere.

I had wanted to get into this college really bad. I wanted out of my cage, out of my small town. I had been homeschooled all my life, not once allowed to step outside in terms of education. My closest friend was my sister, Nina, but even that was a rarity. I never found it fair, how Nina was allowed public schooling and how I was not. I'd watch as Nina would walk down the road with a bunch of her friends while my palm was pressed against one of my house windows. It was almost as if the glass was seperating my from having a life. Then I'd slowly walk into the living room, where Mom would greet me with a smile and pull out a math textbook. "Ready Blake?" she'd say, and I'd nod as I'd take my place at the coffee table.

But then I turned 18, and life at home just wasn't enough. So Mom talked to Dad, and they both paid the money to let me take a college entrance exam.

Needless to say I passed with flying colours.

The letter came 2 months later. I remember prancing around the house, shouting "It's here!! IT'S HERE!!" as I waved the letter around in the air. The family was all smiles when they found out that I was accepted.

That I was going to Hagane Academy.

"Anyways, who are you?"

I came back into reality just at the end of Anela's rant. I coughed. "Oh, me? I'm Blake...Blake Elric!" I say excitedly, copying Anela's hand motion by jabbing my own thumb into my chest. She sighs, then throws her suitcase at me. I'm barely able to catch it. "Set me up, will you Blake? I have phone calls to make and things to do," she says as she leaves the room. I stare for a minute, then say "Okay!" as I set her suitcase on one of the beds.

Hey, if this is what people do to make friends, then I won't disagree!
