Repenting

This is dedicated to a friend of mine. You know who you are! :)

 

Open your eyes! Never close them again

Open your mouth! Confess your sins

 

Open your ears! Listen to His advice

Open your heart! Live a life with Christ

 

Open your lungs! Let Him breathe into you life

Open your hands! Let Him remove all your anger and strife

 

Repent, my friend, walk away from the lies

Enter the land of smiles, away from the land where everyone cries

Repent, my friend, confess your sins to all who hear

Repent knowing Christ is always near

 

Repent, my friend, and climb up to judgement

No time to waste! Just repent, repent!

I'm not the Lord, I can't tell you everything to do

But I can guarantee that God has amazing plans for you

 

Repent, my friend, show Him everything inside

It's okay to laugh, it's okay to cry

Sins are sins, and nearly all are forgiven

So don't just stand there! Repent, my friend!

 

Can we rewind to those times in 7th grade, please?

I'd carry around my Bible, and people would call me a "Jesus-Freak"

I smile and laugh, and I hope you will too

Because I AM a Jesus-Freak, no need to deny the truth

 

Let's fast forward to now, if that's okay?

I want to be there for you, friend, and show you the way

I will always be there for you, kinda glued to your hip

I wanna help you enter this religion--no, this relationship

 

Repent, my friend, and all wounds will be healed

Never doubt, never question: Jesus is real

Others can stick up their noses and think like you once did

Let them call God a fake, call Jesus a fib

 

He's real, He's here, and He's ready to hold you

So run away from the dark and do what you need to do

Run on the sidewalks, even on the cracks

Because you are lamb, and the Shephard's glad you're back.
