All The Signs

All The Signs

A Poem by Emunah June.

I should have noticed

But I stayed hopeful

Still the anger escalated

And feelings were crushed

All I can do is sit and watch

As my body is swallowed alive by fire

I have so many regrets

But fire won't cease for a single tear

I need to step out of my dreamland

No earthy thing is perfect forever

So butterfly-fly away from me

My dreams no longer able to breathe

There's too much fire

Too much smoke

It's blinding me

I can't see the exit

Happiness and wants are put on a scale

I can't decide, the fire spreads too quick

There's too many tears, too many words said too fast

The scale is broken, things can never be changed

No more wishes for me

I used them all maintaining broken glass

I should have read the signs

Not just one, but all

My throat is numb from all my screaming

But my voice is so distant it can't be heard

So now I've read all the signs

And realize it's coming to a close

So take a bow, all actors involved

The act is done, the actors go home

I'll sit here and clean up the props

Before the fire sets them ablaze
