Other Half

Other Half

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

To Sasana

"

The darkness can tear two people apart

Even those who were fused together at the start

We kick, we scream, we reach out to each other

But time is of the essence, says your father and mother

Away you'll go, to some strange land

Leaving me here with an empty heart and empty hand

My shoulders weighted down by emotional aftermath

No one understands how you're my other half

We met at school and were instantly pals

We laughed at hockey "players" and real snobby gals

We smiled the days away, and now it's ending in pain

Leaving me staring at an empty picture frame

I remember how we laughed at him when he'd scream "KID!!"

And it's all falling apart like falling petals of an orchid

My shoulders weighted down by premature aftermath

I thought they all knew I was your other half

Fights come and go, and so do friends

Take me perfect or with all my odds and ends

You fit the bill, and best friends we became

So when you're gone, I'll never be the same

I've screamed so much that my throat is numb

Being this sad could be considered dumb

My hands can't pick up this heavy aftermath

I'll be broken without you, my other half

Your my best friend, don't ever doubt

I'll forever think that from here on out

Will you think the same, in your brand new world?

Or will you replace me with some other girl?

It's happened before, so sometimes I worry

Shockwaves of emotions have sent my world in a flurry

No one here to help me carry the aftermath

I'm scared of losing my other half

Remember when I came to school, all in a tizzy?

About this blonde cartoon guy that made me dizzy?

I would dance around and sing, and you'd just laugh

Because best friends like us are supposed to do that

Then you found this guy who resembeled a palm tree

And I laughed and laughed until I fell to my knees

You puffed up your face and then together we laughed

Together we're whole, seperated we're half

So they day will come where I'll be forced to say goodbye

And my tears will fall, and we'll wonder why

Why it came to this, why you have to go

And we'll wonder why nobody knows

Why we've got to sacrafice everything because of all this

Why neither of us can gain a last wish

So you'll be broken while I swim in the aftermath

Because one was the other's Forever Half

Aww this was beautiful yet so sad. You can feel the pain that they both went through.
Well done.
