Thunder & Lightning (Little Child)

Thunder & Lightning (Little Child)

A Chapter by Emunah June.

Little child

Come let me tell you

A story, a story

Of why there is

The thunder and lightning.

Our Father

Our Heavenly Father

He loves us so much, little child

How He loves us

The angels, little child

They want us to live.

To live on and praise Him

Which is why, little child

There is thunder and lightning.

Demons, little child,

Demons want us dead.

The praise hurts their ears

And adds salt to their wounds.

So, little child,

The angels want us to live

And off they go

To fight, little child,

To fight these demons.

The swords, the claws,

They clash, little child,

How they clash and make

The thunder and lightning.

Do we win, little child?

Do we win these loud battles?

Yes, little child,

Yes we do.

Our greatest soldier is named Jesus

And He aids us in these battles.

But are we victorious, little child?

Do we always come out on top?

No, we don't.

Which is why we still have

The thunder and lightning.

So you see, little child,

We are fighting these burdens and sometimes we win

But sometimes we don't.

Which is why we wil always have

Thunder and lightning

But also remember, little child,

As I carry you upstairs to bed,

That heaven is never lost, and God loves us.

So dream, little child,

Dream of Him and His loving embrace

Even during the thunder and lightning.

While I don't believe in the Christian God, or religion in general, I liked this poem. It was a very strong and powerful tribute to Jesus and God, and I especially liked your thunder and lightning metaphor. A fitting metaphor for a most interesting God. Very nicely expressed.
