Busy Souls For Crowded Rooms [Don't Leave Me Alone]

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

Nobody was invented by God's great hands to ever be by themselves.

"

You idiot, can't you tell when I'm just kidding?

The organism's desire is always

"This too, shall pass"

but can't you see it doesn't always equal

loneliness?

And my lips are swollen, broken, and bruised,

and they often speak life and such sorrows.

But don't leave me alone.

Don't leave me alone.

Nobody was invented by God's great hands

to ever be by themselves.

We are a species of complexity;

we are busy souls for crowded rooms.

And in my singularity, I don't understand

why cards on tables and jewels for sale

are more appealing than my company.

I've even dusted off my hands, I've kept my temple clean.

If paper dipped in coffee stains

offends the soul of the insects and the like,

then please close the door on your way out;

but a few hours, return, for it's not meant to be this way.

Please don't believe me when I say I desire silence.

It's the fools test to see if you can withstand these winds.

I'm scared, afraid, and fear such rejection!

Don't leave me alone. No! Don't leave me alone.

Your writing actually takes my breath away. The descriptions! The imagery! I can hardly take it.
I like the slight one-way conversation feel of this. It gives me a feeling of sorrow and desperation; trying to convey something to someone who isn't really listening.
The lines; "Nobody was invented by God's great hands to ever be by themselves" Yes! That was a very hard lesson to learn, but you write such biblical truth. We aren't meant to be alone. And the 'fool's test'- telling people you're OK being alone, OK being in silence- I can relate. The fear of rejection, the terror of being alone. This poem means so much to me, and I'm so happy you wrote it.
