Glacier Church Bells [Time, Bliss, Forever]

Glacier Church Bells [Time, Bliss, Forever]

A Poem by Emunah June.

Somewhere, a long time ago,
an old man told me on a winding abandoned road
not to partake of the fruit of ice.

A mouth, parched and cracked,
simply pursed its lips and hummed
on the long way home.

It was a silence I barely remember.
I wouldn't have at all if I
hadn't kept checking my watch for the time.

Each hour a spindling triumph
in a wasteland of broken glass
and confirmation of one's lonely existence.

No one understood me, then, either.
I was simply a memory on the tattered sleeve
of the warrior who played pretend when the lights were off.

And I cried "It's all so trivial!"
But, the truth was?
I didn't know where I was going after all.

Simply physical heat in two entangled bodies,
who's heat is the lantern on a dark winter's gale
is why I'm so alone when the rain comes.

Metaphysical daydreams beget regretful sighs
when you lean over the desk in non whimsical delight
frozen in time; space; eternity.
