Heart Heart Postage [Keep The Body, Change The Soul]

Heart Heart Postage [Keep The Body, Change The Soul]

A Poem by Emunah June.

He's putting forth quite an effort

His arms are always outstretched

Allowing the shadow of I

To melt against his chest

And become one with the feelings

I swore, after him, I'd never feel again

I'm bursting at the seams in colour

I feel like such a child, being this in love

His lips taste like the smell of fireworks

Chemistry in motion

He claims he's not a poet, yet his body tells me otherwise

The way his eyes light up when you speak to him

A flood of bright blue

Who's heart is prepared for such a treasure?

Certainly not mine

Which has been broken and glued back together

So many times

That my fingertips are decorated in bandages

From touching shattered glass so much.

Perhaps this jealousy is brand name

Or maybe I just bought it at the thrift shop

Either way, its an impaling

Impatient arrow

That shot straight through my abdomen

And every fiber within me

Wants you all to myself

Forever.

This sucks.

Im reaching a limit where Im going to break again

And all the King's glue

And all the King's tape

Will have been wasted on a figment

So please

Take this chew toy I call a heart

And forward it back to the sender

Or maybe you can put in a

Good ol' fashioned

American quarter

And see what comes out of it

If you punch in all the right numbers.

Either way

Whatever method will prove better

Than loving something beyond repair

A girl you could do without

Keep the body, change the soul.
