Daydream [Kissed A Mirror]

Daydream [Kissed A Mirror]

A Poem by Emunah June.

You're 16--quick! Where are you?

Pause; hold it

You're at prom---NO!

Homecoming

Yeah, that.

Its much sooner than prom.

Who are you with?

Me?

No wait, hold that thought.

Think closer.

First dates.

The smell of the ocean breeze against summer's canvas

A true masterpiece if you ask me.

Stop! What's in your hands?

A rose?---No. Not a rose.

Even though you wanted one.

A letter.

A first.

A first love letter.

Ah, I see the game you're playing.

What do you ask me?

"Go out with me."---No!

Pause.

Not like that.

Sweeter.

"Will you go out with me?"

Better.

But not perfect.

"Will you give me the honor of being your boyfriend?"

Perfect!

STOP!--What do I say?

"I'm surprised you even have to ask."

Awwe.

Where are we now?

Far.

Like the plains stretching across my homelands.

And we've kissed--oh my God, how magical.

And we've held hands (safety is attractive. Mmm.)

But where will we be!?

(I'm DYING to know!!)

You're smiling away the days---

No. Stop. That's a lie.

You're laughing, just like me.

But my mind is wandering.

What am I wearing, you ask?

Oh, not much---oh. Wait. No.

I'm wearing your hoodie

And that means so much to me.

Your smell lingers on my skin.

It's like you're right here----OH!

There I go, I'm daydreaming.

Again.

Where's my mind RIGHT NOW?

Wedding.

Ours.

Ha, I'm stupid right?--WAIT

Don't answer that.

I know I am.

But God, don't you SEE it?

You look SO GOOD right now--oh.

Ha ha, you ALWAYS look good!

But I mean

That ring you're putting on me--oh my gosh, it's silver!!

It's so perfect.

And I like the way you're staring at me right now.

How the word "wife" will tumble out

So perfectly out your mouth--oh your teeth are so white it's beautiful!

How I'll be the only hands you'll hold

The only lips you'll kiss--have I ever told you how soft your lips are??

(Very, incase you ever kissed a mirror and it never gave a proper answer...)

And our hearts will melt into one

One day

And how, right now

I'm dancing

My dress is spinning

(Like my head--OH.

And my heart. BUPPA BUPPA.

Care to feel?)

Oh. I'm awake.

And right now

I'm just in the back of the car

You're head is resting on mine--aww, you're so cute.

And you're sleeping.

Sleeping.

I was too.

Was I dreaming of us again?

Yikes.

Better stop doing that before someone gets hurt.
