Michaela [I'm Worthless, Lahvie, Really Worthless]

Michaela [I'm Worthless, Lahvie, Really Worthless]

A Poem by Emunah June.

Dear Michaela,

Words cannot express

My gratitude for you.

You and I

We were strangers in a strange place

Filled with broken names and broken faces

And our only line of connection

To break the surface of formality

Was a boy

A single boy

Who in turned set the images of one another ablaze

We hated each other, we did

Over a boy who turned out to be

A mirror with several reflections.

I only heard about you in passing:

"They're together, did you hear it?"

And a heart so freshly wounded

Yearned to save you, to touch you

To make you aware of the dangers of playing with fire

And still,

(Hah, Im so worthless, lahvie, worthless)

All I could manage

Was a simple "Good luck. You're gonna need it."

He hurt you, didn't he?

And what a fool am I

To not have comforted you sooner!

You were hurting

I was hurting

From afar

For who would want a friend with such baggage?

And now look as us, Michaela

Look at us now.

Friends

Best friends even

(at least, that's what you say

And what I so badly want to believe)

And all I want is the best for you

And your bright eyes

And your shining personality

Because a flame like that is so easy to snuff out

And I wont abandon you again.

Not like this.

Tell me what I can do

To make that happiness burn bright

And you can bet I'll be there

With my tub of gasoline

Pouring it on to ensure it's blaze

For many years to come.

Sincerely,

Myself

I know I don't have something more amazing to say because the poem itself has already surpassed whatever I could have ever said. This was so fabulous and all the other synonyms I can think of! :D

This was a great poem. Sometimes friendships endure hardships. I know that from recent experience. I used to be really close with this one girl, but she turned into a terrible person. I helped her when she needed it, but when it came down for me to ask her for help she didn't. I was so happy when I dumped her, but in the future she is going to get seriously hurt when she realizes who was there to help her through her troubles in the first place. It was me. I'm not going to help her anymore. She hurt me and I will never let her let that slide. It's always good to maintain friendships after the pain. You will be strong through it all. Men should never play a factor to hurt a friendship...yes, you may disagree, but some men do become terrible...abusive...thanks for sharing.

I once developed a strong friendship with another girl because we both agreed that a certain boy is unpleasant. And our roads split because of that same boy. He was quite manipulative, and I had little space for forgiveness and acceptance of other peoples imperfections. If i had handled the situation a bit differently we might have still been friends me n her.

But past has pages of stupidness, guilt and screaming into pillows. We cannot go back. We can only promise to view the light better when the next sun rises.

Your poem sounds like a letter. Scribbled with many colors and raging emotions. Do not blame yourself too often, Koda, dear. And take care of your friend, she seems like a gem. :)

-Rain.
