Brigadeiro [On An Empty Stomach]

Brigadeiro [On An Empty Stomach]

A Poem by Emunah June.

I remember talking to you

And something brought up the topic of cooking

And you said you can cook brigadeiro

I've never eaten brigadeiro before

You said it's sweet, that it's delicious

And that, my dear, is worht quite a bit

So if I handed you some pots and pans

Would you cook some brigadeiro for me?

I'm sorry that Im younger than you

I'm sorry that I can't do as much

I've still got a lot to learn

But it's hard to do that on an empty stomach!

I can't cook much

I guess I've never really tried

But the smell of something I've never tasted

Is very alluring, that brigadeiro

I can't cook anything for you

I can't make the most delicious dessert in the world

I can't do any of that

So I suppose this request is too much to ask

But if I gave you what I had

And smiled as brightly as I can

And told you how much you meant to me

Would you make some brigadeiro for me?

lovely write. Very clever love angle, love the slightly off beat last line... makes it really stand out.

Just a great write... Thank you.

one typo (i think?) read this line:

And that, my dear, is worht quite a bit

If I am right it is a dyslexic thing and most people would auto correct it and never see it... I do it ALL the time... welcome to the club :)

When I first saw this poem, I asked myself "What is brigadeiro?" so I looked it up and sure enough it looks delicious. Now for the poem. I have a feeling this is more than someone asking for their friend to make a dessert for them. I have the feeling that they have certain feelings for the other and such. The reason I thought this was because of the last four lines. Or I could be totally wrong and have gotten a totally different idea. Who knows. However, I still liked the poem nonetheless. ^^

By the way, I can't really cook anything either, so I can relate to this. ^^" And it is really hard to think about anything really if you have an empty stomach. I think we all know how that feels. Now I want to try some brigadeiro. :D
