Nails on a Rain Tarp [A Terrifying Thought]

Nails on a Rain Tarp [A Terrifying Thought]

A Poem by Emunah June.

It's hard to sleep

On a night so fair

When wind chills my bones

And spiders crawl in my hair

The light grows dim

Batteries near dead

Slipping headphones on my ears

And a pillow under my head

That battery dies too

And suddenly stops my heart

When demons float around outside

Spitting nails on our rain tarp

I had cried in the car the night before

And tonight the acid is over

The lightning flash and streaks outside

Skies dark with rolling thunder

The nails are ripping throught my chest

My music a distant memory

So tonight I'll sleep under plastic sheets

And dream of dreams in ebony

And as I shiver and shake under the hoodies

And my night is filled with horror and wraught

I finally come to the obivous conclusion

That camping in the rain is a terrifying thought

I like how you compared the rain to demons spitting nails. It makes me think of how children interpret things like that. Spiders crawling through your hair? Gross. I'd really hate camping if that ever happened. Actually, I've never went camping before, unless you count camping in a tent in my garage camping, which doesn't count at all. That would be scary though, being out in the rain in only a tent with thunder the only sound you could hear and lighting all around you. If it were me, I'd be crying too, but then I'd be called a baby by my dad and then we'd insult each other a bit and then I'd be okay after that. ^^" Anyway, this poem had great, great, GREAT imagery and detail. When you say "plastic sheets" you mean "sleeping bags" right? That's the only thing I can think of. ^^" Superb poem and I WILL read more from you since that's all I've been doing all day. ^^" Keep on writing please! :D

This is the first piece of yours I've read, and I really like it...it's so vivid, with the overall tone and the imagery you use to convey it coming together seamlessly :)
