I want to be immortal

I don't want to rot away, and be the food of fungus and worms,
i don't want to be cremated, it's better to be eaten by germs,
the wise and religious claim, death is a new life's portal,
but i want to live forever, i want to be immortal.

I don't want to fall ill, and succumb to some hideous infection,
i don't want to meet a terrorist or men who belong to the house of correction,
the wise and religious claim, death is a new life's portal,
but i want to live forever, i want to be immortal.

I don't want to leave this beautiful,wondrous world,
i don't want to leave my amazing family sad,
the wise and religious claim, death is a new life's portal,
but i want to live forever, i want to be immortal.

Most people want to be immortal. Not very many people actually want to get old and sick...and die.

nobody wants to die, especially when we're young and life's so awesome! Plus like you say death only means a meal for fungi and worms. You put our basic and selfish desire to live forever well on paper.

I can relate to not wanting to die and what the cold of death might bring, but... your poem just talks about the fear of dying and only a tiny end part for the joys and what you don't want to lose. I think if you had more emphasis on the joys of life it would give it a deeper... eh feel? but good write :)

Well, this was interesting. Hits very close to home for me too.

I mean sure I believe that when the soul passes it is not the end but a new beginning.
But I love my life, I don't want to die and start a new one.
